Biggest island of Greece, Crete is the most diversified too : cities without a lot of charm (Iraklion), cities with a lot of charm (Hania, Rethymno), small lost villages (sometimes deserted), archaeological ant ancient sites (Knossos, Kato Zakros...), very touristics seaside resorts (Hersonissos, Malia...), contrasted landscapes (sea, mountains), Venitian fortresses, Turkish minarets... If you go to Greece only once, go to Crete. Tourism is certainly very developed (very very developed in summer), but there's not a long way to do to be alone.
